Four Challenge Tracks Suited to Your Company
  • The Challenge Apprentice Track: A fundamental track where a seminar is provided going over simple policies and actions to get your Green Team started, learn about energy and waste reduction strategies and energy efficiency incentives. Participants receive consulting support from the sustainability staff of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Participants who complete items on this menu receive an award upon completion of the track.

Fee = $450 The enrollment fee is per company so that all members of your Green Team and staff can attend at no additional charge.

  • The Challenge Leaders Track: An eighth-month program from April to December with monthly seminars to exchange best practices. Topics include sustainability policies internally and for vendors and supply chain, energy efficiency incentives, green cleaning, green purchasing/office products, renewable energy, and alternative fuel and transportation. Participants work through a scorecard of strategies and receive awards based on points achieved. The Missouri Botanical Garden sustainability staff meets your company Green Team on-site to facilitate adoption of strategies.

  • The Challenge Champions Track: Designed for companies who have participated in the Challenge and looking to maintain the green momentum. A special scorecard encourages companies to reach measurable reductions in energy, waste, and greenhouse gas reductions, along with high performance building strategies and biodiversity accomplishments. Champions are encouraged to attend the Leaders Track meetings and become a mentor to new Challenge participants. Separate seminars that go deeper into sustainable business topics will be help. The Missouri Botanical Garden sustainability staff meets your company Green Team on-site to facilitate adoption of strategies.

  • The Challenge Green Cities Track: This Challenge track supports integrating sustainability into municipal business operations and organizational structures. The Challenge staff provides customized coaching for Green Teams made up of city staff, engaged citizens and elected officials.
  • Green Cities resources are adapted from the Scorecards used by Challenge companies, to meet the unique needs of local governments, and connect municipal participants to resources of OneSTL, our regional sustainability plan. 
  • Green Cities Challenge services include: 
    • Training Workshop, at which a menu of sustainable practice options is presented and participant plans are discussed.
    • Option for an annual Site Visit from Challenge staff, which can be combined with an internal or public program.
    • Report-Out Seminar, at which each Green City shares a project highlight from the program year, with a focus on process and lessons learned.
    • Peer-to-Peer learning and resource-sharing, facilitated by the Challenge staff, including customized support for Green Cities collaborations.
    • Access to the Challenge library of policy and practice resources shared by participants.
